The Government Meteorologist telegraphed at. 1 p.m. to-day as follows: — Westerly strong winds to gale, and veering by west to south after 24 hours-, weather cloudy, unsettled and much colder; rain probable; barometer falling, but rising after 24 to 3G hours; •sea heavy; tides high.
