NORMANBY TOWN BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Board was held on Monday, when Commissioners Davis, Preston, Cocker and Robson were present.

A memorandum was received from the District Health Office as to the water supply at a'house in Chute street, and recommending the Board to issue a requisition to the owner to have the well filled in and an adequate water supply provided by means of .rain water tanks. The Clerk stated that he had written to tlie owner as to the suggestions of the health officer; and he was instructed to forward a copy of the letter referred to.

On the motion of Commissioners Preston and Robson, Mr C. Paine was appointed Inspector of Nuisances, and was "requested to report quarterly to the Board.

The Clerk produced a list cf defaulting ratepayers, which showed that £150 8s 2d was unpaid. Notices have been sent out requesting payment on or before the 26th inst., or legal proceedings will be taken.

It was decided to hold a. special meeting on Monday, May 26, at 3 p.m., to deal with the rate question.

Commissioner Preston drew the attention of the Board to the state of the footpath, especially in the main street, and said he thought it time something was done. He moved that the sum of £10 be spent on the footpaths. On being seconded by the Chairman this was carried. The Chairman was authorised to arrange for material for the work.

Mr Preston was granted permission to erect a guard fence in front of his property on the Mawhiwhiti road.

Accounts to the amount of'£lo 4s 8d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
