It transpires in connection Avith the burglary at Tattersall's Club that the charge was- not sufficient to open the door of the safe. It smashed the.woodwork surrounding it and damaged the furniture. A burrrlary occurred at the George Hotel. Pitt street. A. constable saAv a man leaving. After a long chase he fired five chots from a revolver, and, closing on him. hurled the empty avcapon and struck the refugee on the shoulder. The man staggered and Avas captured. The safe at the hotel contained £5") and jeAvellery valued at £30, which Avas taken. All Avas recovered. The money Avas strewn along the line of flight.
