MINING DISASTER.
LONDON, April 12. While a cage containing 12 men and boys was descending the shaft of a colliery at Mardy, in Wales, something went wrong with the engine gear, and instead of the cage stopping gently at the bottom of the shaft is crashed to the planks with great force. Most of its occupants were injured, and some of them had to be taken to hospital.
