SOCCER NOTES
The T.F.A. met last Thursday at Eltham, and beyond the ordinary business of an annual meeting little else was done. The fixtures are to be arranged at the next annual meeting, which is to be held on Wednesday, April 30, at Stratford. That meeting is also to decide hew the clubs shall be organised for matches. Now that Auroa has definitely decided, not to play this year, there are only four teams in the Southern end, three of which Have. Wednesday as half-holiday, and one keeps Thursday. In the North there are only two teams so far, namely, New Plymouth and Stratford. . : It has been suggested that Kaponga should go into the Northern end, which would make three teams each end—a very unsatisfactory state of things for all concerned. A better suggestion is that there should be only one league of the six clubs. This makes for better competition, but leaves the difficulty of the half-holiday still unsettled. Again 5 the distance for teams travelling would be enotigh to -choke • the enthusiasm of the players. Of course, teams half-way would find it suit fairly well, but for New Plymouth to travel to Manaia or Kaponga, or vice versa, is almost out of all reason. This is a knotty question for the delegates to decide next Wednesday, and it is hoped that all members will consider and deal with it on unbiassed and unparochial lines. '...:. It is good to hear that some sort ot an attempt at the formation of rules is to be made. This matter should have been settled long ago. It is the only way to establish smooth running and to prevent misunderstandings, and the sooner printed copies of thes-3 rules are available for all concerned the better it will be for the game in Taranaki.—Communicated.
