THEJR RELATIONS DISCUSSED

AUCKLAND, Oct. 23. The Diocesan Synod discussed a proposal to appoint a committee to meet representatives of the Labor movement in regard to the alleged hostility of ihe latter to the Church.

The mover of the resolution, the Rev. Mr Cleary, of Waihi, said the miners tnere had no time whatever for the Church, and during the strike not 60 out of the 1,500 strikers could be seen in the six churches of the town.

An amendment, moved by the Rev. Mr Beatty, that the next business be proceeded with was lost.

Bishop Crossley urged Mr Cleary to withdraw his motion in favor of a proposal to appoint a Social Questions Committee for the purpose of watching affairs and taking action where necessary. He wished it understood that he was not influenced by fear of meeting tne Labor Party, and he thought the latter knew this.
