WOMEN'S POLITICAL REFORM LEAGUE.

WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. At the annual meeting of the Women's Political Reform League (Wellington branch) Mrs Newman, the president, in her annual report, said they had every cause to congratulate themselves on the result of the general election. Three years ago they had only 14 members in the Wellington branch, which was only a few less than the number of followers Mr Massey had in the> House.' Other districts had been stirred by the enthusiasm of Wellington, and had formed leagues. The members of the league had fought untiringly at the election. She urged on women the necessity of insisting on the right of initiative. Only in that way could they maintain their independence. Eighteen new members were elected.
