At the anniversary celebrations of the Battle- of the Boyne at Belfast, notwithstanding the downpour of rajn, 55A>'<)0 Orangemen marched through the prmeipal streets.
Roman Catholics attempted to destroy an Orange arch, and this led to stone throwing. The police batoned tlie mob, and some window-smashing was indulged in. Some policemen and women had to be conveyed to the hos-p-itai. There were also disturbances in otl-er districts.
Mr F. E. Smith, M.P., was the principle speaker. He said that Home Rule vrv- the most brazen paradox in modern politics/ If he was an Ulster Protest-a.n-4 he would rather be ruled by the £»'.«,.'t*v?i from Constantinople than hy Dttteni.
