ENTERTAINMENTS.
tt THE ENGLISH PIERROTS
A fairly large audience greeted the English Pierrots at the Opera House on Friday evening, aud, judging from the liberal applause bestowed upon every item, the entertainment gave general satisfaction, which was only to be expected, as the performance, as a whole, was bright, tuneful, humorous, and clean. The choruses and concerted numbers were especially pleasing, and of these the one that was perhaps most appreciated was the "Loch Lomond" quartet by Messrs Chapman, Thomas, Austin and Cooke. In point of fact, however, each item rendered during the performance was accorded a first-class reception, and the ridiculous travesty of modern melodrama with which the entertainment concluded left the audience still shaken with laughter as it quitted the Opera House after two hours of wholesome enjoyment.
