MAHOE.

LPBOM OUR OWS COBRKSFONDENT.]

The first of the euchre and dance parties was held last Thursday week and was well attended, though, the weather ft'as far from propitious. The ladies' prize was won by Mrs T. Wilson, and the gentlemen's by Mr E. Astbury. The success of this one augurs well for the remainder of the series.

The Hall Committee has already made a start in making the improvements mentioned in my last notes, and very shortly we may expect to see them carried out.

Next Tuesday, July 2, a farewell social to Mr and Mrs Astbury and family will take place. A strong and representative committee has had the matter in hand for some weeks now, and from the support received from every family in the district, confidently expects a crowded house. This is as it should be, for no family in th« district is more worthy of the recognition that long and ungrudged service in the interests of others deserves. The first part of the programme will consist of games, interspersed with songls by popular performers. Then will come the presentations to Mr and Mrs Astbury and their two elder daughters, a supper and a dance. Miss Williams, of Kaponga, will supply the music.

The contractor for the erection- of the cheese factory is making good progress. All the excavation work is completed and the walls for the concrete are we on their way.

The weather has been very severe and snow covered the ground on Sunday morning.
