INSTALLATION ON THE

TUTANEKAI

BY TELEGRAPn—PRESS ASSOCIATION

WELLINGTON, June 25. The wireless installation on -the Government steamer Tutanekai was officially opened this afternoon.

The first message transmitted was sent by Sir Joseph Ward (who is himself a practical telegraphist) to his Excellency the Governor, Lord Islington, and read as follows: "His Excellency the Governor, Palmerston North. —I have the honor to despatch to your Excellency the first wireless message from the Tutanekai upon the occasion of the official opening of her wireless installation, which I have been requested by the Government to perform."

The installation is a fine one; and has been carried out entirely by New Zealand telegraph officers in a most satisfactory way.
