Mr William Derrett, who has been a resident of Patea for 38 years, has T with Mrs Devrett, taken" uo his residence in Auckland. Before leaving Patea Mr Derrett was presented with an illuminated address from the Patea Brass Band, of which he had been president.
Mr G. V. Pearce, M.P., has gon* to Wellington. , Tl'e Hot. Mr Carnevoss, M.L.C, was, a passenger for Wellington by this, morning's express train.
On Saturday evening, as Mr John Leydon, one of the best known business men in Stratford (reports the Stratford Post) was walking along the station platform looking through the windows of v the Toko train for a passenger whom ' he knew to be on the train, he stumbled over a tarpaulin, and, as he madeAn effort to recover himself, stumbled over another, with the result that he fell heavily, sustaining a broken kneecap. Latest advices from the hospital show that Mr Leydon is progressing favorably.
