THE WORLD'S PICTURES.

The new programme presented at the Opera House on Saturday evening was witnessed -by a large audience. The dramatic pieces were headed by a particularly interesting film entitled, "The Sudden Impulse." This is a thrilling story of society life in a large city. The theme centres around the love affairs of a young doctor. He and his fiancee are invited to a military garden party, at which his lieutenant friend is also present. The doctor is obliged to leave to attend a sick boy, and asks the lieutenant to see his fiancee home after the affair finishes in the evening. "While the doctor is absent the girl becomes infatuated with the officer, but he resists^ her blandishments, being true to his mend. The girl the following morning m a spirit of jealousy, sends a note to the doctor saying that the officer had acted m an ungentlemanly manner towards her. The doctor interviews the lieutenant and asks for an explanation or his conduct towards his fiancee The lieutenant, however, to shield the girl would not explain to the doctor the true position, and the two consent to fight a duel. The officer purposely fires wide to miss his friend, but the doctor, believing the lieutenant guilty luts him.
