THE TITANIC.
THANKS TO THE CARPATHIA

LONDON, June 22. At the Titanic enquiry Captain Rostron gave evidence that he raised the Carpathia's speed to 17i knots on receipt of the Titanic's wireless message. If it was a clear night, unless he knew there was a lot of ice about, he would feel perfectly justified in going at fullspeed. The Titanic's passengers told him that the earlier boats were not filled because the people did not want to go away. The Attorney-General, on behalf of the Government, thanked Captain Rostron for saving so many lives.
