SCARCITY OF TEACHERS
A DUNEDIN SUGGESTION
BY TELEGRAPH--PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, June 20. The Duuedin Education Board this morning resolved that the Board was in complete accord with the Southland BoJird as to the pressing need for the adoption of some effective means of re-
moving the existing scarcity of fully qualified teachers, in order that the effi- , ciency of country schools may be maintained and improved, but while freely admitting that the suggestion jnade to that end is worthy of consideration, the Board is of opinion that the requirements of the case could be better met by making provision tor training a larger number of teachers within the dominion, until such time as the present demand is met. The Board believes that the ultimate result of a pursuance of such a course would Drove more satisfactory, masmcch as the teachers would be specially trained to meet the exigencies of the dominion. °
