RIVERLEA.
(From a Correspondent.)
Despite the very unsettled condition, of the weather on the night of the 19th inst., the ladies' ball was very well attended, about 120 being present. The hall was very prettily decorated with ferns and evergreens, all the windows being draped with lace curtains, which were very kindly lent and hung by Mr C. Hartley, of Kaponga. The stage w-as. laid off like a large drawing-room. Thestate of the floor (which, if anything, was a little too good, jiidging from the sudden stops of some of the dancers every now and then) and Beesley's Orchestra made it almost impossible for one not to dance. The refreshments in the supper-room were of the very best, and the arrangement of the tables was greatly enhanced by flowers given by Mr Robert Gibson. *The ladies deserve the greatest credit for the manner in which they conducted the whole affair. The ladies who acted as M.C.'a carried out their duties to perfection I understand that Mr Charles Voi-J----laire intends joining the benedicts shortly, and we all wish Mr Voullaira and his intended bride every happiness. The euchre parties given' every fortnight by the hall committee are becoming very popular, and there will be another next week.
