SOCIAL AT NORMANBY.
[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
•Despite very adverse weather, a good number assembled round the tea-tables in the Town Hall on Wednesday evenIng. The tables were laden with good things, and the ladies who had charge arc-to" be congratulated on their efforts. Those in charga were Mesdames Frei, Craig, Beven, Edwards, Linn, Kilvingtcn, Milne, and Miss Winks.
After tea the hall was cleared, oncl a musical programme _ was submitted, which all thoroughly enjoyed. The following ladies and gentlemen took part: Overture, Miss Bischoft"; song, Miss A. Linn; recitation, Mr Schmitt (encored); song. Master R. Milne; violin solo (2) (encored), Mr Walker; song, Miss M. AVinks: pianoforte trio, Misses Sargent and "Wensiey and Mr E. Sargent (encored); song, Mr E. Sargent (2; (encored) ; song, Miss "Winks. Dining the evening the Rev. Mr McKenzie, who occupied the chair, pre^ ssnted Miss \ Hunger with two volumes of poems as a slight token of esteem and appreciation of her services as organist. The presentation was made on behalf of the congregation.,Mr F. Hunter returned thanks for his sister.
The-Rev. J. 11. Shore gave an interesting address on church membership, and was very attentively listened to and appreciated. ,
Votes of thanks to the performers and the ladies for the tea, and to the chairman brought a very successful social to a cl',3e.
