The second part of the concert consisted of songs, character sketches, and a farce, all of which were favorably received. At the request of the Hall Committee, a very hearty vote of thanks was accdrded by acclamation to the performers and promoters of the entertainment. After the concert a short dance was held. The many friends in this district of Mr Swadling were greatly shocked at the news of his sudden death. Those who knew him best liked him best, and that, it seems to me, is one of th» highest tributes that can be paid to » man's character.
