BY TELEGEAPH—PKESS ASSOCIATION

TE KUITI, June 20

The Mangaokewa river at Te Kuiti is in a state of flood, the road on the eastern side of the town being under water. No damage is reported. At Te Kuiti the Awakino road was flooded by the Mokau river for between nine and ten miles from Te Kuiti. The coaches were several hours late from Mahoenui and Aria to-day. No serious damage has been done.

The Main Trunk line was blocked b\ a slip on the line at Poratarao, south of the tunnel, this morning. The passenger train from Tanmsmmui to Auckland was detained for half an hour by signs of the line slipping. Eventually the train crawled over the place. Later in the day the line slipped four feet. A lar^o jring of men were put on to make a deviation, but it is anticipated that the work will not be completed before to-morrow night at the earliest. Till then the service will be comnletelv blocked, and passengers nf^ mails vill have to be transhipped at the slip. The place where the slip ocurred is his?h papa country, liable to slips. There no accommodation, and r>as=fmr>"°rs Avill have rather an uncomfortable time.
