WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.
At the monthly meeting of this Board on Wednesday tho resignation of J. Smith, Kapuni, Avas accepted, and the appointment of A. L. AVilson, fifth assistant, Hawera, approved. Repairs for Kakaramea were authorised. Messrs Dixon and O'Dea's report as to repairs and alterations at Manaia was adopted and left in the hands of Mr Dixon to be carried out. On Mr Dixori's recommendation, £10 was granted for repairs to outhouses at Riverlea. Mr Dixon reported as to draining SAvamp at Rawhitiroa School. He spoke very strongly on the subject. Pound for pound aa'jts granted. The Education Department Avrotenotifying an additional grant of £100 for new school at Patea, It was recommended that the Board sanction a conference of teachers and instructors at Hawera and Marton to discuss matters pertaining to the work of the secondary classes. The Cbief Inspector recommended imnrnved lighting in the class room at Elt.ham.—Referred to Mr Dixon for an estimate. Whakamara's request for repairs to po'v-h Ava^ referred to Mr Dixon. Alton Committee. requested additions to the *r>hool site.—Left in the hands of Mr Dixon to report. Waito+arn committee applied for a shelter shed ond drainage grant.—Refevor] to Mr T)ixqn. Pntea residence is to be supplied with a neAv bath, and a grant made for drainage.
