I . f _ _ The Very Rev. Dean Power went , south by the mail train this morning. * On Sunday next the Dean is to preach | the occasional sermon in connection with the silver jubilee of the Bishop of Christchurch. Some anxiety is felt among his friends by the disappearance on Wednesday of Mr R. A. Gray, Government auditor i (says the Taranaki News). Mr Gray ha* been in ill-health for some time, and has been under treatment by Dr Walker for nervous prostration. At 10 o clock yesterday morning he intimated his intention of going for a walk, which, was, a favorite recreation, and set out accompanied by his dog. His dog returned at 1 o'clock, but there was no sign of Mr Gray up to a late hour last night. It is feared that he may have been overcome with faintness or met with some outdoor accident, which would" be severely accentuated by the weather. A prolonged and thorough search was made for him on Wednesday night without avaii, and it will be continued this morning, should no news of hi* whereabouts be received meantime.
