The following letter sent to us speaks for itself: —Dear Sirs, —I am delivering to you this day four (4) True Red Birch fencing posts, taken out of the ground at Karioi under my supervision on the 14th inst. The fence of which they formed a part is estimated to have been erected some 38 years ago, and these are four of the original posts. The oldest Maoris living in the vicinity are positive they have been in the ground from 35 to 40 years.
