On I'rulay, June 7, I had a goo d entry ot cattle m my Uaiwakaiho yards, a Dig proporuon ueing Jersey yearilll"ana 2-year iieiters. ike demand for these was very good, prices obtained being:—Jersey yearling heifers, up to £b 3s tor best- others, £2 ls to £2 Bsgrades, £1 4s 6d to £1 10s: yearling steers (good), £1 to £1 12s; yearling mixed and poor quality, 13s 6d to £1 bs 6a; 20 month empty neifers (Jerseys), £4 ss; grades, £b to £3 lUs; 20 month steers (good), £3 9s 6d; poor, £2 Is to 77 ?n ' _year lifers, iv calf (small), £4 19s; 2-year heifers, in calf (Jersey, nice line but backward), £5 13s 6d; springing cows, £7 to £7 15s; cows, spring calvers, aged, £3 9s 6d to £4 10s; springing 3-year Jersey heifers, £10; store cows, £2 to £3 ss; forward cows, £3 15s to £4 17s.
At Urenui on Monday, June 10, there was only a small yarding with a slack enquiry for everything, except yearlings. Well grown yearling heifers realised £3 os; good steers, £1 15s to £'z ls; poor and bad colored, £1; mixed, £1 5s 6d; empty 18 month heifers, £3 3s 6d to £3 14s ; 3-year bullocks, £5; store cows, £2 6s to £3 7s; forward cows, £4 to £4 9s; dairy cows, £4 10s to £7 ; 3-year heifers, in calf, £7; bulls, £3 ls; hoggets, good line, 10s 6d. On the same day, at Toko, I had only a fair yarding, realising: Yearling heifers, £1 6s to £2 6s 6d; steers, 17s to £2; mixed, £1 Is 6d; empty heifers, £3 3s; store cows, £2 14s to to £3 13s; fat cows, £5 4s; dairy cows, £10 7s 6d; 2-year steers, £3 19s 6cl; hoggets, 10s; f.m. ewes, in lamb, 9s lid; empty ewes, 3s 7d to 4s lid.
For my fortnightly sale in my Stratford yards on Tuesday, June 11, I. bad a.fair entry and a good attendance of buyers. The demand throughout was very even for all lines, an absolute clearance being made during the day. Good store cows and yearlings met with keen competition: Best yearling steers from £1 13s 6d to £1 17s 6d; small, £1 Is; bad colored, lis; good mixed, £2 4s; best yearling heifers, £2 2s 6d to £3 3s; good, £1 lis to £1 19s; small, £1 6s 6d; empty 20 months heifers, £3 to £3 9s 6d; bulls, £2 5s to £3 10s; heifers, in calf, £ 4165; three-quarter co^ys, in calf, £3 17s 6d; aged cows, in calf, guaranteed, £3 2s 6d to £3 12s 6d; empty cows, stores, £2 9s to £3 os; fresh conditioned, £3 lis to £3 19s;
boners, £1 to £1 15s; fat cows, £5 17s 6d ; hoggets, 8s 4d ; fat bullocks, £7 13s. In my Stratford dairy yards on the same day I had a clearing sale on account of Mr John Fabish, Ratapiko. Ridding was very good. Best quality cows realised from £8 to £11 os; second grade, £5 10s to £7; others, poor or aged, £3 2s 6d to £4 10s. On account of other vendors, £5 to £7 10s; heifers, in calf, £6 2s 6d. On Wednesday, June 12, I had a good attendance at Mr V. Miller's clearing sale on the York Road. Prices realised throughout were very satisfactory, averaging £9. Good dairy cows realised
from £8 10s to £12 10s; second' grade, £5 to £7 10s; empty cows, £3 15s to £4 17s 6d; heifers, iii calf, £6 17s Gd to x.i):. mare, £16 15s.
My Stony River sale on Wednesday was very well attended, but only a fair
r.iinu of stock, which met with good competition, realising as follows: "Yearling heifers, £1 4s 6d to £1 18s 6d; steers, £1 8s to £1 17s 6d; empty 20 months heifers, £3 5s to £3 15s 6d; 20 months heifers, in calf, £3 15s to £4 7s ; store cows, £2 10s to £3 2s 6d; forward cows, £4 2s 6d to £4 4s; fat cows, £5 7s 6d.
Private sales. —Business has been good, prices obtained during the week being as follows: Colored yearling heifers, £2 7s 6d; yearling steers, £2; yearlings, mixed, £1 10s to £2; store cows, £2 5s to £3; fresh conditioned cows, £4; fat cows, £5 17s 6d,to £6 3s;
18 month steers, colored, £2 15s; Hoi-
stein grade bull, £10; pedigree jersey cow, 75 guineas; empty 20 month heifers (in demand) line of 200 at £3 10s; line of 185 at £3 7s 6d; others, £3 to £3 8s 6d; 2-year heifers, in calf, £4 10s to £4 12s 6d; 2* to 3-year heifers, in calf, £6 5s to £6" 15s; dairy cows, five choice cows, £15 10s; others, £11 £10 10s. £9, £8 10s, £8, £7 10s, £7; lambs, 10s, 8s 6d 7s; rams, 12s 6d; 2, 4, and 6-tooth ewes, in lamb, 12s 9d to 14s 3d; fat wethers, 16s 3d; stores. "* 6d to 14s 3d. Eighteen acres of turnips, with run, £63; 18J acres, with haystack and run, £3 7s 6d per acre.
