SUDDEN DEATH OF MR W,
SWADLING
Quite a gloom was cast over Kaponga towi»shi'p when it was known that Mr W. Swadling had been found dead in his garden. He went out in the garden early on Tuesday evening, and was seen by a neighbor planting a tree. His absence, unfortunatelyfi was not noticed^ and this morning he was feund leaning over his spade quite dead, having apparently died suddenly last night. Heart disease is supposed to have been the cause. Mr Swadling was one of the bestknown and most respected men in the district, and took a very large sharein public affairs. He was a prominent member of the Anglican Church in Kaponga, a Justice of the Peace, chairman of directors of Kaoonga Dairy Factory member of the Town Board, Eltham County Council, Hawera Hospital Board, Patea Freezing Company, and chairman of the School Committee. His was a most useful life. His death will be a serious loss to town and country, and especially to the district of Kaponga, Mrs J. Finlay, of Tokaora, is a sister of the deceased.
