The opening shoot of the Manaia Gun Club came off at Mr Leydon's paddock on AVednesday, loth inst., when a large number of sportsmen gathered 'together, and a good day's sport was indulged in, in spite of the occasional showers of rain. During the day a number of sweepstakes weie shot off, the results being very close in eadbevent. The following were the prize-winners : '"* No. 1 Sweepstake.—Messrs J. ODea and AY. AVhitton tied for first place, with 10 kills each, dividing first and second money. Mr G. McKenzie was third, with 9 kills. No. 2 Sweepstake.—Messrs G. McKenzie. G. Smith, and F. Fowler tied for first place, and divided the stakes. No. 3 Sweepstake.—Messrs J. Dick E. A rine aud J. Robertson tied for first place, and divided the stakes. No. 4 Sweepstake.—Messrs C. Davis and AY. AVhitton tied for first place, and divided the stakes. '
