Dear Sirs, — I HAVE pleasure in notifying you that on New Brighton beach yesterday, 9th inst., the MATCHLESS MOTOR CYCLES met with considerable success. The event was a 30-mile handicap, and was won by Mr Andrew Boag, private owner, on a Si h.p. MATCHLESS. This machine made very fast time, averaging a mile a minute1 along [ the straights, easily beating all other makes of 3 i h.p. machines. Fastest time of the day and fifth place were secured by Mr G. H. Nicholas, another private owner of a 7 h.p. MATCHLESS. Mr Boag made second fastest time, his machine occupying only a little more time on the course than the 7 h.p. Yours faithfully, W. H.
