KAPONGA.

(From a Correspondent.)

A general meeting of the Kaponga Horticultural Society A\as held in the Toavii Hall on Friday night. Present: Messrs C. E. Betts (in the chair), Gibson, 'Walker, Baigent (secretary), Mesdames Baigent, McGuire, Severne, and Walker.

It Avas resolved to hold a concert and dance on June 25, particulars of Avhich will be advertised. The concert committee consists of Messrs Betts, Walker, and Hill; dance committee, Messrs M. Power, D. J. LaAV, F. Birtie, T. Bruce, and the secretary. It aa\*is decided to call a ladies' meeting.

In connection AAith the spring shoAV, Mr R. Gibson, the Avinner of the Carbery Cup at tbe Stratford ShoAV, offered the cup for competition at the next spring show,/to be held in Kaponga, provided three or more members of the Stratford Society would compete, the conditions to be .forwarded to the Stratford Society. Mr Gibson received a hearty vote of thanks.

A members' book is being started, and it is hoped that residents in and around Kaponga will not be backward m putting their names in the book, as their doing so will mean to a very great extent the success of the society.
