CORRESPONDENCE.

THE LATE FIRE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —It will be two weeks to-morrow - since the Central Hotel fire occurred, and the remains are still smouldering underneath where my rooms were I was a heavy loser, but hoped to salvage a few trinkets, etc., when the, removal of the debris should take place. The buildings in the ricinity of the fire are also in danger if a strong wind, such as blew the night of the fire, springs up. Cannot : Hawera's up-to-date Fire Brigade turn on the hose for half an hour and ex- • tiuguish the fire. CHAS. ZACHARIAH. Hawera, 11th May, 1912.
