PROTEST FROM WAIROA

WAIROA, May 11. A largely attended meeting of local •bodies in the Wairpa district last night strongly condemned the Local Government Bill as regards County Councils, Borough . Councils, and Hospital Boards. Resolutions were passed condemning the Bill for its centralising tendencies. The following motion was proposed, but was not •put, as the delegate elected stated that he would adopt the line proposed: *'That the Government be recommended if it desires to simplify local government, to adopt charitable aid districts as granted, and abolish all road boards, domain and cemetery boards, and town drainage and river boards, •and delegate their powers and duties to council and boroughs."
