MOTOR-CAR FATALITY

Tbo enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs Jeannie Pro\v,se, killed by a motor-car at Remuera on May S. was commenced yesterday, and concluded to-day. A great deal of evidence was taken, and the jury returned a verdict that death was due to shock, following on injuries caused by impact with the motor-car, and that the deceased met her death accidentally through an error of judgment on the part of thd driver. The jury added the following rider: "The jury desire to call the attention of the Government to the evidence of John Beveridge Lindsay, traffic inspector for Auckland, thtsy being distinctly of the opinion that every person driving a motor-car on the public highways should be the holder of a 'certificate of competency.' ??
