MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Hawera Hospital Board wns neld on Friday. Present: Messrs R. A. .Nolan, W. Duiis* T. A. Bridge, J. Marx, W. Swadling! W. Goodland, W. T. Wells, C. Tarrant. Leave of absence was granted to Mr G. W. Tayler. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. The tirst business was tne statutory election of chairman for the ensuing year. Mr Duirs proposed that Mr Nolan be re-elected. Miss Beetham spoke enthusiastically of the readiness of the people to carry out her instructions in attending to the sick. He had asked all shopkeeper* where he had seen foodstuffs at shopdoors to raise the articles out of reach of dogs. The hotels had" been inspects - ed and reported on for the Licensing Committee. Recommendations had been made in nearly every case. He also reported that no sanitary conveniences were provided at Qkaiawa. i Hall, and made a recommendation on the subject.

The report was adopted. ELECTRIC LIGHT AGREEMENT,

The Chairman and Mr Goodland were authorised to sign the agreement,, on behalf of the Board, with the Hawera County Electric Company with. reference to the installation of tfce? -^ electric light at the hospital. UNPAID ACCOUNTS. The Board went fully into the matter of outstanding patients' accounts,. and decided to place a number in its solicitor's hands for collection. This was all the business .
