LONDON WOOL SALES

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received a cable from their London office, dated May 4, as follows: — The wool sales have closed, with a very firm market, As compared with closing rates of last series, line-haired super fair to good, inferior and scoured Merinos are all o per cent, higher.

Crossbreds. —Fine and medium qualities are unchanged. Coarse qualities and scoured crossbreds are 5 per cent, higher. Shabby and dingy, par to 5 per cent, lower. Gillies and Nalder repoi-t a full yarding of stock at their Manaia sale on Tuesday, nearly the whole of which was sold at ruling rates. On account of Mr T. Mc-Phillips a line of Jersey heifers was sold at the following prices: £15 ss, £14 10s, £11 15s, £11 10s, £11, +o £5 10s for ore backward sort, the line of 22 averaging £11.
