COURSING AT OEO.

[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

On Wednesday last, the second meeting of the Egmont Coursing Club was held in. the paddocks adjoining the Oeo Hotel, when the matches between Messrs PepperelFs and S. Campbell's dogs and Messrs C. Woolford's and W. K. Connell's came off. They were for £5 aside, and were won by Messrs Campbell and Woolford's dogs. The weather was unfavorable, but a good number of people were present. The runs were good and fairly long, all the four hares were killed,; and an excellent exhibition of coursing was seen. Mr C. A. Trotter (Opunake) acted as judge, Mr W. Edwards (Oeo) as slipper, and Mr E. S. Forsyth (secretary of the club) captained the party, and placed the spectators so that good coursing ensued. The next meeting of the club will be held on Wednesday, May 15, and is a sweepstake for all-comers. Messrs Connell and Woolford have decided to have a match between their dogs, for £5, next time they meet.

The following are the results: — Match of £5 aside between Mr S. Campbell's Belle and Mr F. PepperelPs Lady Fan.—First run: Mr Pepperell's Lady Fan, 14; Mr Campbell's Belle, 12; a long run up; Belle had the run up. Lady Fan did all the work; a splendid run with a strong hare. Second run: Belle, 9; Lady Fan, 7; Belle had the run up; Lady Fan did good work, but received a wire cut in the shoulder. Third run: Belle, 9; Lady Fan, 7. A real good course, lasting several minutes. Both dogs did good work, Belle seeming to be the faster.

Match of £5 aside between Messrs C. Woolford (Te Kiri) and W. K. Connell (Opunake). Mr C. Woolford's Berkenhead, 9; Mr W. K. Connell's Speed, 8. Birkenhead led from the slip. Speed worked well, but Birkenhead just beat Speed by a point.
