TIMARU BLASTING FATALITY.

NOT DUE TO HURRY.

BY TELEGBAPU--VBES3 ASSOCIATION

WELLINGTON, Jan. 31. The members of the Timaru Harbor Board take exception to a statement in the telegram reporting the inquest on O'Neill, who was killed by a blast at their quarry, to the effect that the accident was caused by the blast being hurried so as not to keep the members of the Board waiting. Some members were at the quarry that afternoon, but according to the chairman's statement the blast was ready and there was no occasion to huny. The secretary stated that t^e engineer did not even know the members would be there. When the inquest was resumed this week the Coroner said there was no evidence to the effect that the blast had been hurried, and a wrong inference had been drawn from the witness Hayes' evidence.
