SELF-DRUGGING.

WELLINGTON, Jan. 28

At the adjourned inquest on Madame Karle, or Gertnide Smith, who was taken ill on election night and died in a private hospital, the Government Analyst stated that the amount of apiol in the stomach could not have been more than one-third of the amount contained in one of Stearne's wafers, which it was stated deceased had been taking. Poisons may have, however, been absorbed in the blood. Dr. Fyfe said he did not think apioloids were the cause of death. The Coroner found that death apparently was caused by the indiscriminate use of drugs.
