PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 28. The Plunket Shield match, Canterbury v. Wellington, was resumed in fine weather and on a perfect, wicket. Wellington, chiefly .by the aid of a fine innings by' Gibbes, carried their total to 173, Midlane 35, Gibbes 59, bedng the principal scorers.

In Canterbury's second innings Briee and Saunders bowled much better than on the first day, ad the total reached was 192 for 'six wickets. Patrick again batted splendidly for his 44, thus being "top scorer in each innings. Lusk, Norman and Hickmott each scored in good form. The rain, on Saturday night will leave Wellington little chance of winning. The pinncipal scorers wereLusk 29, Haves 17, Norman 31, Hickmott 32, Patrick (not out) 44, Sandman (not out) 20. The position of the game now is that Canterbury made 277 in their first innings and have six wickets down for 193. Wellington, in their first innings, made 173. •

The following will represent Okaiawa against Stratford next Wednesday, and will leave Normanbv by the 11.30 a.m. train-.—Barclay, Blackman, Phalen, Penny (2). Prout. White, Hurley, Currin. Cantilan, and Towler. The following team will represent Hawera against Mariaia "B" at Manaia on Wednesday:—McCarthy, Pratt, Hill Treweek. G. Sargent, Jennings, Tissiman, Nichol, Douglas, Johnson, and Mitchell. Emergencies: Page, Williams, Potter. A drag will leave from the Egmont Hotel at 1.10 p.m. sharp.
