THE JAMESON RAID.

HISTORY GIVEN BY AN AMERICAN. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRTGHT. (Received Nov. 29, 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 28. John Hayes Hammond at a banquet, gave the inside history of the Jameson raid. The chief agitators were Americans, who did not act at any time under the British flag. The impositions of President Kruger were such as no Anglo-Saxon would stand for a single minute. Dr. Jameson entered the reform movement against the wishes of others. • Kruger played false towards the Reform Committee and gave the men to understand that if they pleaded guilty they would merely be fined. Instead they were condemned to death. Secretary Olney's intervention alone saved the reformers from execution within 24 hours.
