The Nationalist Congress at Bloemfontein, General Botha presiding,-decid-ed to form a strong South African party to consolidate the white races, -eradicate racialism, and make South ' Africa a white man's country. Mr Smartt, addressing a meeting of Unionists .at Durban, said that General lsotha rs',new organisation was^bnly the" > Bond of Hetvolk- and Orangiaunie' under a new name, and that forces were working in the Cabinet and. driving General Botha in a direction which" was not in the country's interest.
