Returns in the Gazette show the area under wheat to be 336,389 acres, an increase of 83,160 acres; oats, 593,396 .acres, a decrease of 153,324 acres.; barley, 31,831 acres, a decrease 'of 14,435 acres. The total area under crop .'s 1,015,822 acres, a decrease of 68,887 acres. Root and green crops show 713,682' acres, a decrease of 92,239 .acres. The total land in occupation is 40,238,126 acres, an increase of 2,033,----777 acres. As no collection ~6t statistics was made last year, the comparison is with the previous season. The average yields were: Wheat, 25.73 bushels; oats, 33.41 bushels; barley, 27.68 bushels; potatoes, 4.87 tons.
