« IABLE -PBEBS ASSOCIATION-^COPYBrGHT. SYDNEY, Aug. 17. For the first time in Australia wireless has been used to aid the police. The captain of the steamer Grantala informed the police; that a confidence trickster was aboard. The police met the boat on its arrival in Sydney, and arrested him.

He states that if the Government remains in power no> wireless stations in the world will be more powers! than the Australasian.
Dissensions have arisen in the State Ministerial party over the Preferential Voting Bill. There is a likelihood of an early general election.
LAUNCESTON. Aug. 18. The death is recorded of Mr Murray, local manager to the Union Steamship Co.
