if C4TU.E—PRESS AHROCTATTON -OOPYBTGHT (Received Aug. 2, 11.45 a.m.) CONSTANTINOPLE, Aug. 1. The damage by fire is estimated at five millions sterling, and 100,000 persons are without shelter. It takes two hours to drive around the devastated area. Thousands are living in orchards and vineyards.
Many perished who took refuge in underground cisterns, where the rain water collected as the houses collapsed, and they were boiled alive.
Arrests of suspected incendiaries continue.
