The ; annual report of the Railway -Commissioner shows the gross earnings to £7,407,836, an increase of 10.14 per cent, over the previous year. The in«ome was £4 13s 6d per cent, on' the «apital invested. The tram earnings were £4 10s 8d per cent, increase, of Is lid and 2d per cent, respectively. The •surplus of revenue over expenditure for railways and tramways is £600j126, an increase of £33,458. The trams carried over 230,000,000 passengers, without a fatal accident. The Commissioner adds that the limit of the capacity of the i-olling stock is nearly reached, and a" new and comprehensive scheme is urgently seeded.
