A native named Homereri Whakarehu, on behalf of himself, wife, and nine members ofTiis family, caused some sensation at the big Maori meeting at Waahi by presenting 130,988 acres, for #hJ&, purposted of mana, in various parts' of the Taupo district. The block contains a large^ area of totara, hot and sulphur springs. There is a great dead of first and second class land, and a large area of pumice country.
