LONDON, May 7. The private purchase of his pictures and their subsequent exhibition jn Goupil Gallery lias brought Walter Greaves, a septuagenarian artist, into instant fame, though he modestly describes himself as a pupil of "Whistler. Critics declare that his style is apart from Whistler's characteristics and denotes great originality, and that he is a better craftsman than Whistler.
