BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNTY, May 7, The amateur sculling championship was won by McVilly (Tasmania); Towns (New South Wales) second, and Stevens (Victoria) third. They weTe the only starters. Won by four lengths. Eight-oar Championship— New South Wales 1, Victoria 2, Tasmania 3, South Australia 4. The race is described as the most spectacular race ever witnessed. For over a mile there were five boats abreast, led by New South Wales. Time, 17min 24sec.
