They weTe the only starters. Won by four lengths. Eight-oar Championship— New South Wales 1, Victoria 2, Tasmania 3, South Australia 4. The race is described as the most spectacular race ever witnessed. For over a mile there were five boats abreast, led by New South Wales. Time, 17min 24sec.
