Although. liomney and Lincoln sheep will figure prominently at the 1 important S j -r,to be hel^ on the Masterton A. and P. Association's new show "-rounds on February 14 and 15, it is not alone in these sheep classes that there will be keen competition. In English Leieesters the Lister Shearing Machine Co.'s silver ciip which was won last year by Messrs Slack Bros., of Manawatu will again be competed for. The New Zealand Sheep Breeder's Association offer a shield for the champion ram in Border Leicesters, whilst in Southdowns a cash prize of £10 is offered by Mr James Stuckey for the best ram under 21 months. The competition classes for Shropshires, tor which a gold medal and silver medal are offered, and there are one or two local breeders who challenge the Dominion. Six classes are provided for farmers in long-wool crosses, and a silver cup, valued at £20, is offered for the most points scored in the freezing classes. Freezers and fat sheep are sure to be strongly in evidence at the show. It may be mentioned that the Masterton A. and P. Association has made a distinctly forward move by the erection of pavilions f. ' the exhibition of sheep. This is an innovation which will doubtless be appreciated by breeders. Exhibitors should remember that entries close with the secretary on Saturday next, January 28. Schedules and entry forms may be obtained at the office of this paper.
