PORT OF LONDON.
THE CHARGES LEVIED. IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS PROTEST. BY CABLE— PEESS ASSOCIATION— COPYKIGHT. (Received Nov. 1, 11 a.m.) , LONDON, Oct. 31. Leading importers and exporters addressed the Port of London authority, and protested against levying charges to the extent of 65 per cent, of the maximum import rates, and 25 per cent, of the maximum export rates, yielding £330,000, which is the limit of revenue the authority is empowered to raise. The address recalls Mr W. Churchill's statement in the House of Commons that £180,000 would be a sufficient sum to raise.
