WELLINGTON SHOOTING CASE.
[PUESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, May 24. In the case against John Corkill, the bailiff charged with the murder of Christophei Denis Smith in Pipitea street on March 4, the jury returned a verdict of manslaughter, with a strong recommendation to mercy on the grounds of the age of accused, his frailit}-, and great provocation. . . The jury were of opinion that Lorkill reallj thought his life was in danger, although this idea was unjustifiable. His Honor said he would pass sentence on Saturday.
