A reference to the attitude of an individual member of the Cabinet regarding the new Defence Act was made by Mr H. Dearsley, president of the Auck-land-branch of tiie International Arbitration and Peace Association, at- a meeting under the auspices of that body the other night. "I have it on the very best authority," ho said, "that tnor»> is one member of the Cabinet who is opposed to universal military training from beginning to end, and I may tell you that that member is not a southern member either." "Why does he not come out?" asked a member of the audience. Mr Dearsley, however, did not supply the answer.
