NEW YORK MAYOR'S STRONG CRITICISM.
A lively scene occurred at the annual American press dinner in New York. The Mayor of the city, Justice Gaynor, after some biting criticism on N Mr W. R. Hearst's journalism., went on to say: "Tb think that a man capable of doing things like this is possessed of a notion timt he is fit to liold office as Mayor or as President. Morally, the mind must be a wilderness. The voters will never put such a man in office." Cable greetings were received from rulers and other dignitaries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.
